Fri, April 30Architecture & Distributed SystemsAI-Assisted Software Engineering
The C4 model gives engineering teams a shared language for describing software architecture at different levels of abstraction, with Structurizr as its reference implementation. Whether you are new to C4 or have been using Structurizr for years, this session takes you from the foundations through to recent developments.
You will start with the four levels of the C4 model, why the hierarchy matters, and how to sketch your first diagrams. You will then see how to turn hand-drawn diagrams into version-controllable Structurizr DSL and create multiple diagrams from a single, consistent model. The second half explores Structurizr vNext and its new features, before examining common problems with AI-generated software architecture diagrams, how to fix them, and how to get better results when using an AI agent to assist with diagram generation.
What You Will Learn
How the four levels of the C4 model work and why the hierarchy matters
How to use Structurizr DSL to create multiple diagrams from a single, consistent model
What is new in Structurizr vNext, and how to improve AI-assisted architecture diagram generation
Who Should Attend
Software Architects, Developers, Technical Leads, and engineering practitioners who are new to the C4 model or already using C4 and Structurizr.
< speaker_info />
Simon is the creator of the C4 model for visualising software architecture and Structurizr - the original developer-friendly "models as code" tooling for creating version-controlled software architecture diagrams based upon the C4 model. He is the author of "The C4 Model" (O'Reilly) and “Software Architecture for Developers” (Leanpub). Simon has worked with hundreds of organisations across ~40 countries, from startups to global household names in almost every industry sector, helping teams adopt the C4 model and communicate their software architecture more effectively.
