IDEs have supported refactoring for many years, yet the process can still be time-consuming and difficult. This often leads to reluctance, increasing the long-term cost of development. At the same time, refactoring without clear purpose can result in unnecessary productivity loss. This session takes a data-driven approach to refactoring. It works through examples of code, measures code quality, applies automated code transformation tools to refactor, and then measures quality again to evaluate improvement. The goal is to make refactoring faster, more measurable, and more effective in driving development efficiency.
